Leather boots sliding through green and red stage lights tear up the carpeted floor of the 140 Pub Rendezvous. Men in pearl button-down western shirts twirl their wives while lady friends snap their fingers and shake their shoulders. It's Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock and the crowd is hooting and hollering for one of their favorite performers, Jason James and the Bay State House Rockers.
Known by customers as a biker bar, the pub just north of the route 140 and 62 intersection is said to be a friendly place. “Walk in here and it's like a group hug,” says fifth-grade teacher Nancy Schmidt who spends a good part of her night on the dance floor with her husband John. The couple has been kicking up their heels at Jason James shows for more than 10 years since first seeing him play at what was once Breakaway Billiards in Clinton.
